Stirr: The Little Stirrer That Couldn’t

The Stirr by uutensil looks like a pretty FuncFash-able product.  It’s a kitchen stirrer where you can place just about anywhere and have it stir without you having to do anything.  The ultimate in function, you set it and forget it.  However, digging a little deeper and after reading thekitchn’s review of it we found the Stirr perhaps more flash than function.  Check out this video of it struggling to scrabble eggs.

From the mouth of thekitchn:

thekitchenn logoSurely it could handle this, we thought. And scrambled eggs are one of the dishes that would actually benefit from an automatic stirrer; we had visions of scrambled eggs cooked for an hour over ultra-low heat, stirred constantly by our mechanical arm. The ultimate in luxury! But again, the poor little Stirr just wasn’t up to it. As soon as the eggs thickened and coated the bottom of the pan, the Stirr was stuck.

Even the video they have on Lakeland (where you can purchase Sitrr) shows off the lack of power in the Stirr’s stirring ability.

Just goes to show that you can’t judge a stirrer by its picture.  I thought this thing would whip up stuff right fast.  But I guess if you are looking for something that stirs things at a snail pace and gets stuck relatively easily then the Sirr is for you.  It’s kind of cool how it can stir on its own, I just don’t know if its limited power would limit where you could us it.

If they wanted to make this more FuncFashion-able they should have attached 3 horsepower motor with variable speed control.  They also should have made it soloar powered too.
