LG Watch Phone: Tells Time and Talks to You
LG Electronics has announced to the world their upcoming LG GD910 watch cell phone. What makes the GD 910 unique is that it’s a 3g touch interface cell phone that straps around your wrist and isn’t ridiculously huge as you would expect. More importantly it isn’t ugly to look at either.

This video tour should give you a good idea of the cool factor this phone will provide:
If you listen to the demonstrator closely in the video above you’ll notice that he mentions that this watch phone has an impressive 247 hours of standby time. However, what he fails to mention is the 2 hours talk time you get. Not exactly the phone for chatterboxes. The slide they show briefly in the video shows the impressive talk time.

If this is something that piques your fancy you can pick one up for a rumored price of 1000 pounds (or about $1600) when it gets released in the UK. LG currently has no plans on bringing this phone to the United States so at least you saved yourself $1600. However, if you really want to get it, Dynamism (which imports all kinds of fancy electronics from Asia) is taking email addresses down and will notify interested buyers when the LG GD910 becomes available for purchase. It will probably be a lot of money, but at least you’ll be one of the few owners of this phone instead of becoming one of the 40 million iPhone users out there.
While it would be nice to keep my pockets “crap” free I don’t know if I would always want to be wearing a watch around. I can’t imagine what kind of tan lines I would get while wearing this.
FuncFash-ness: 7/10
- Functional: 3/5 (you get a touchscreen and some other standard cell phone features, but talk time is kinda lame)
- Fashionable: 4/5 (it’s pretty small and unique…if you own one you’ll get coolness points)
Where to Buy:
Unfortunately no US stores are planning on carrying the LG GD910 watch phone, but Dynamism is taking kind of pseudo pre-orders (or really just creating an email list) that once they get their hands on the phone they’ll notify interested buyers. No word on pricing (but expect something over at least $1000).
