Speedo Aquabeat: Swim to the Beat
While your iPod Touch, Nano, Normal, Shuffle, etc… is great for listening to tunes wherever you go there’s one place where the iPods can’t go (and still function) and that’s into the water. Where the iPods and other mp3 players fail is where Speedo’s Aquabeat mp3 player picks up the slack. It is a portable mp3 player that is waterproof and can be submerged up to 3 meters underwater. Take that iPod!
For any of you who have spent any extended time swimming, like swim practice, know that swimming thousand about thousand of yards can be extra boring. I remember my days on the swim team where I’d be bored out of my mind as I did one flip turn after another and saw the same deep end over and over. Swimming is a very lonely sport. It’s just you and your thoughts to keep you company in the cold depths of the water.
I used to be jealous of runners since they had better scenery to look at and the fact that they could easily listen to music as they run. However times have changed and now no longer do swimmers have to suffer their sport in silence.
The Aquabeat is made by Speedo. The same Speedo that seems to make all the goggles and embarrassingly small swim bottoms that most men hate to wear. For around $120 this is what you get:
- Waterproof up to 10 feet underwater
- Floats in water if dropped
- Easily attaches and fits to most swim goggles
- Holds 1gb of songs
- Headphones swivel and go over the ear to stay attach during furious swimming
- 3 Colors: Black, Green, and Pink
It’s sad that the Aquabeat can only hold up to 1gb of songs (roughly 17 hours of songs), but unless you are trying to set some kind of world record or be like this guy who swam the Amazon River 1 gb should be enough music to last you through your swim session.
Thanks to the Aquabeat swimmers no longer need to be bored out of their mind while swimming. Hallelujah!
