Solar Vest Man to the Rescue!

We love solar products as much as the next tech gadget blog site, but after seeing the Solar Vest I started cracking up. Not because it’s a bad product per se, but just from how it is marketed. I’m not knocking on the product at all, but I do see some issues with this product.
1st issue, how many people or often do you see people wearing vests (besides while fishing)? I don’t see many vests in my daily life…besides fishing of course.
2nd issue…I don’t know about you but I don’t like my clothes advertising exactly what I wear. Here you’ll notice on the back of the solar vest how it says…
“Solar Vest” in nice big writing. But the my friends at Chinavision see this is a big selling point for the vest:
In case your friends think this is only an ultra-fashionable vest, the words “SOLAR VEST” in big stitched lettering on the back let them know this is really a high-tech solar battery.
I know if my friends saw me wearing this the first thing they would think is not “wow, what an ultra fashionable vest you are wearing!” It would be “wtf are you wearing?”
Other than that it looks like a pretty capable solar charging unit. Though i don’t know if I’d like carrying a battery everywhere I go (the solar panels charge a battery that sits in your front left pocket). Plus, I would imagine you would have to be out in the sun a lot to even begin charging your laptop (which they say is possible).
However, maybe I’m just being too negative. After all the true “power” of the Solar Vest is your ability to save random pretty girls in the street from their running out of battery problems…as this powerful marketing video shows.
As the video shows wearing the solar vest will help you pick up 3 chicks at the same time!
So if you are looking for an opportunity to become a solar powered super hero then the solar vest is the perfect product for you.

- Fashionable: 2/5 (the “solar vest” written on the back should just say “nerd” instead)
